<strong>Natural Health First When Your Kids Are Sick: How Parents Can Take Control of Their Kids' Well-Being</strong> | PX Docs

I want you to take a minute and think back to that unforgettable moment when you found out you were having a baby. You may recall the overwhelming experience of preparing for a baby shower and scanning different items, from household tools to baby supplies – for me, it was quite the challenge. Who knew that this little baby about to come into the world would need 5,000 household items just to survive!

These days I’m known as Dr. Tony, natural health pediatric chiropractor guy… but as a child, I grew up with fried foods, which are obviously unhealthy. However, now, with the aid of air fryers, thank goodness healthier food options are available.

As parents, we are faced with numerous choices when it comes to choosing the right products for our children, including diapers, clothes, and other miscellaneous items. While there are plenty of options available for those types of things, there are really only two paths to take when it comes to healthcare. Sadly, most parents are unaware there is a second option, natural health, for handling it when their child is sick. It is essential to recognize that this other choice exists, particularly since it can determine whether or not your child will be healthy long term.

As a parent, I know first hand it can be so challenging to watch your child get sick. Be it teething, seasonal changes, germs, viruses, or the beginning of school, the fact is, our children WILL become ill because germs are everywhere. As a result, it is critical to acknowledge that, as parents, we have some challenges. The first challenge is understanding that there is another path to take besides pediatricians and medication. Going down the alternative road can create healthy, strong, and resilient kids.

I want to map out these 2 choices for you, as to what they look like, and include the short and long-term results of each choice. The decision we make, the path we choose, and our actions will ultimately determine whether we end up with a healthy, strong, and resilient child or one who experiences occasional acute illnesses in early childhood that later develop into chronic conditions.

Option #1: Traditional Medical Path

Most families default to calling the pediatrician when their child is sick. However, this is a sick care system, and medications are often prescribed to alleviate symptoms. While some medications may be necessary for serious situations,  we know for a fact that the overuse of antibiotics, over-the-counter medications, steroids, and fever reducers results in a weaker, suppressed immune system over time.

Children’s bodies have a lot of maturing to do, and God gave them built-in defenses such as the immune, digestive, and respiratory systems, and more. These systems need to strengthen over time; the best way to do that is by getting sick and overcoming it. When using antibiotics, it might look like on the outside; they are better as their symptoms improve. In actuality, the medication is taking over and doing the job the body was designed to do, resulting in a weaker suppressed immune system.

When you choose the pediatric chiropractic natural health path, we can work together to boost your child’s health while still referring to a pediatrician or the medical system if necessary. However, many pediatricians are stuck in protection mode and do not have training in natural health – traditional medicine is all they know. This results in an overuse of medications, and we have ended up with more chronic illnesses than we’ve ever had before in kids.

option #2: Natural Health Path

The second option, the natural health path, is focused on building and boosting health in children. The first part of this is pediatric chiropractic care. Your child’s neurologically focused pediatric chiropractor will make adjustments on your child. These are the lightest, most gentle adjustments, and kids love them. They will boost, balance, and stimulate things like the vagus nerve, lymphatic drainage, anti-inflammatory system, digestive system, etc. and improve the function of the nervous system and all other systems the nervous system controls. Chiropractic care does not do the job for the child – it improves the function of their neurophysiology and helps them fight viruses off themselves.

Another thing the chiropractors at our practice often do is co-manage and collaborate with an incredible practice of natural health docs called Well Rooted. Many holistic practitioners can provide supplements, vitamins, oils, herbs, and other natural remedies that have been used for centuries to boost a child’s immune and respiratory systems. With so much information available online, it’s important to collaborate with practitioners who have experience with natural medicine.

One resource we offer is a Nature’s Medicine Cabinet playbook that breaks down natural remedies for fever, congestion, and other symptoms. By using natural remedies, we can help a child recover from an acute illness and build their resilience over the long term. This is not just a belief but has been proven by neuroimmunology and neurophysiology research.

Children Will Get Sick… So Which Option Will You Choose?

Children will get sick, but by supporting their natural defenses, we can help them get through the illness on their own, without using medications. My four children, ranging in age from 15 to 8, have all experienced teething, colds, and other common illnesses. While they have exhibited symptoms such as congestion, coughs, and fevers, we have never relied on medications to help them. Instead, we have used boost adjustments, oils, and the support of our local holistic practitioners to help them recover naturally.

By doing this, we have seen our children get stronger on the other side of each illness. They have shown development in their speech, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional maturity.

God has put all the defenses and systems a child needs to get through an illness in their bodies.

Oftentimes, since we live in such a stressed, toxic world, things like birth trauma and other stressors can cause dysfunction in the nervous, immune, respiratory, and lymphatic systems.

We aim to help repair, restore, and rebuild these systems through adjustments and natural remedies.

If you need help with natural remedies, we offer guides, handouts, playbooks, and webinars. You can visit our PX docs website to find all sorts of resources that can help you support your child’s health. We want to help you discover the road less traveled, the road of natural remedies, which we hope will become your main road and first choice.  Don’t wait to find your local PX Doc on our directory today!

While there may be times when medical intervention is necessary, we have found that less than 1-2% of our patients require it. By taking a natural approach, we can help your child become the strongest, healthiest version of themselves.
